Two Poems from our Angel Poetry Collection

Grandpa's Fedora

Author: Marcia Schechinger

Poem:
Grandpa's Fedora

With sweaty fingertips a candle flickers
wavering to eerie sounds of summer's warm unfolding
I can hear each creak of hollow wood floors that contoured my past
Moonlight trickles
peeking through termite infested walls
a singular cloud looms a pattern of silver
much like grandpa's hair
Guts of a tractor tear at my flesh
and time withdraws
I rise to grip crusty rough hands
amputated legs stand whole before me
eyes, once curtained, sparkle with green hue
In whispering wind I hear grandpa sigh, go away child this is no place for you
I extend back, dazed, toward a splintered door
visualizing young men playing pitch in celestial robes
wondering what became of their Sunday hats
when they died

To Have An Angels Wings

Author: Robert Miller

Poem: To Have An Angels Wings

I wish i had
an angels wings,
so i could do
amazing things.

I could got to all places
no matter where or when,
and sometime to places
i have never been.

Oh how wonderful
to have an angels wings would be,
i could always get to the people
who truly need me.

Right before there eyes
i could appear,
as well as then vanish
into thin air.

I'd never have to worry about
not knowing where to go,
because i would be directed by the light
of my halo.

It would be so incredible
to do such amazing things,
and i'd only feel blessed
if i had an angels wings.
