Two Poems from our Birthday Poetry Collection

SELFISH AMBITIONS

Author: Kavya Kushnoor

Poem:
SELFISH AMBITIONS

  Since those ancient days,
Those premieval times;
Lay Mother Earth with all her beauty bright.
Where there was peace, prosperity & success always
Those perky moments where there was only joy.

All was well, many days went by;
Just kept passing by & by!
Later when man's ambitions rose so high,
To notch up until, he could touch the sky.
Selfish he grew day by day,
When luxury meant to him his heyday.

The o-zone depletion went on & on.
Pathetic grew the state of Mother Earth!
Her forests were being made to cut down.
Her seas being polluted on & on.
If this goes on,
Nothing'll remain.

For it's us destroying:
The lovely nature.
Sufferers'll be, our children in future.

There are just a few,
To lend ears to her cry.
The rest just say, "Who cares! Just let her die."
We can still repent
And not be so harsh
To our Mother Earth.

For there's one thing in life to remember,
We have to change.
What we're destroying,
Is all ours!

WHO IS DAD ?

Author: Claire Pompei

Poem: WHO IS DAD ?

as a child
you opened the world to me
you gave me parrells to work with
& new ones to explore
to find my own conclusions
that bend & never ends.........
as a child,
you picked me up
& wiped the tears away
so many many times
sometimes with scraped knees & elbows
you kissed them
to make the hurt go away.........
as a teenager;
you let me learn
to draw my own conclusions
you never said;
you are wrong
you let me make those mistakes
on my own........
as an adult,
I see a man
who is now a little smaller than me
I know it's normal for any person
to have anger, frustration, dispair
Dad always has a smile to give
a twinkle in his eyes............
every evening & sometimes
more then once a day
one of us calls the other
to say; Hi I love you
which makes my day

As always,
you give me
your love
unconditional

Thank you dad!!!
