Promises

Author: Bertha Diaz

Poem:
Promises

Forgive me for I'm not the daughter you wanted me to be.
I had many years to think about the actions I have taken, the pain I have caused you, and my coward's way out through the back door.

I been feeding the monster too long, I think that clever got me this far and tricky got me in.
I stepped inside my own cell, which I have been dwelling for the last 10 years.

I waited there counting the days I didn't want to be close to you, the days I didn't want to be me, the days that I thought the world wanted to eat me alive.
You see it's not your fault, you did what you could.

I was just to scared to live, scared of letting anyone in, scared of letting myself out.
I fed my own need to be away from you, and everyone else.
Forgive me for I'm not the daughter you wanted me to be, I sold myself to the knife that lived in my head too long.

IN MEMORY

Author: Katherine Gray

Poem: IN MEMORY

When people die it's meant to be.
Though it's not the way it seems.
Even when we miss them so.
We realize that they had to go.
It may not seem right or clear.
But, you must knwo they're always near.
They're watching you from Heaven above.
Making sure you're always loved.
So just remember as you go about your day.
You'll always meet up with them again someday.
