like woman possessed,
friend always on ‘go’
now makes tree-guard
so young plant can grow
hundred metres away
putting stakes in ground
protects agapanthus
plants ironbarks surround
out of nowhere runs
little dog called ‘Jack’
very scared of wind
trembles, doubles back
raises leg on wheel
of car parked in shade
barks and disappears
now impression made
marks territory then
moves on to better things
friend now ready for home
before tired spine gives in

can be a try-hard and fail miserably best to relax ideas come reliably go for short walk to back verandah listen to night’s world full of dark wonder hear rustle nearby in tall native tree brushy-tail possum on feeding spree
