I want to peel the sky wide open
To see what lies behind
Just to make a space for me
So that I can look inside
To know what’s on the reverse of me
To be certain I’m alive
Is my only destiny, if I’m sure to survive?
Through the looking glass to peer
Reflecting back at me
A corridor between worlds is where I want to be
A place where time stands still, a sonnet of empathy
The door is just in reach, though I know not its fee
Eyes to be wide open so that I may see
The something hiding there, just across me
To take the camouflage, and throw it all away
No place to hide from me, then and now must stay
Sometimes I catch a glint
Through an empty pale
Not always what it seems this world
Covered in heavy Vail
Perhaps today is the day that I should solve a riddle
As I lay deep in green, with wrists cut to their middle…
